Please Pray for Priests (Year for Priest 2009 - 2010) Every Saturday night until 20i0.The rosary will be offered to Mary the Mother of all Priests. Come that little earlier for the Vigil Mass and join us in the Rosary.

Give Blood - Join Ireland's most extraordinary club in Halla Na Feile,Cashel on Thursday 23 July 2009. From 3 - 5 p.m. and again from 7 p.m. - 9 p.m.

Hospice Fund Raiser - St.Mary's Hall. It was a packed St.Mary's that brought over a hundred people together to raise funds for the hospice movement. The chief organiser was Pat O'Dwyer and his organisational ability has been in every detail of the night. Reprensetives of the Hospice movement were present from Dublin, the caters for the night put on a great spread. The raffle consisted of many great prizes from individuals and companies. Coming from inside and outside the parish and county. Such was the crowd that all rooms in the hall were packed to capacity. Congratulations to everybody prizes to the value of €700 were given out.

Congratulations To Martin Carroll and Madeline Bulfin who were married recently in Holycross Abbey. This Tipperary/Kilkenny match are wished a long and happy married life together and every blessing.

Killenaule Bingo - Good news after numerous requests, the committee are glad to announce the re-start of Bingo on Bank Holiday evenings, Commencing Monday August 3rd 2009, the usual time. We are delighted to reveal that Killenaule G.A.A. club has generously agreed to increase the prize money amount on each of the bank holiday nights by €200.

Killenaule Library- housed in Slieveardagh Centre Killenaule - 052 9157906. The Killenaule Library will close from 27th July - 17th August (both days inclusive) for Summer Holidays. Please note borrowers can borrow books from other Tipperary Libraries using their library card; books can also be returned to these libraries.

Slieveardagh Rural Development - The Slieveardagh Centre will close at 1 o'clock on Friday 31st July to Tuesday 18th of August for Summer break. To avoid disappointment please place orders early.

Slieveardagh Creative Writing Workshops Slieveardagh Rural Development to host a series of Creative Writing Workshops utilising local history, the landscape and personal experience to harness the literary potential of the region and to bring the Arts back into the community Venue - Croc an Oir, Ballycullen, Mullinahone, Co. Week 12-07-09

Best of Luck To Tipperary Team All minds and hearts will be focused on Semple Stadium on Sunday next for the Senior and Minor Hurling Championship. The games should attract a packed stadium to witness a great encounter. We wish the best of luck to the parish representatives on both teams. The occasion will be the celebration of the 125th anniversary of the foundation of the G.A.A in Thurles with much celebration in Liberty Square on Friday,Saturday and Sunday.

Crosscannon Cemetary Mass Friday evening last saw the largest gathering for a graveyard mass and the blessing of the new altar. We were led in the singing of the mass by Kevin Hickey and John McCormack. Since our last mass in the graveyard, there was a noticeable improvement;- the graveyard looked so beautiful- a beautiful resting place for our dead. The communities thanks is expressed to South Tipperary County Council, John Fahey and Pat Lanigan, Killenaule Stone Quarries in bringing the great improvement about - thanks.

Congratulations Congratulations is extended to Fabio Cevaico and Roxanne O'Mahony who were married in St.Mary's Church on Saturday.The wedding ceremony was conducted in Italian, Latin and English. Many Italian guests attended the ceremony. The music was supplied by Dam O'Driscoll, Elaine Lyons & Ana O'Mahony.
The Bride and Groom are wished every blessing and happiness and a long and happy married life.

Photo Corner First Communion Day is well recorded in the photo space at the back of the church with children, parents and family members. Present to record this special "Family Day" in the life of parish, the primary school and parish .

Lyme Disease: Under Our Skin Members of the Face Book Group Tick Talk, Ireland are hosting this eye opening DVD "Under lour Skin". A film documentary about Lyme disease, across several parts of Ireland. Early recognition and treatment is vital. There will be a showing of this documentary In Slieveardagh Rural Development Heritage Centre, Killenaule on Thursday Next July 16th at 8 p.m. Entrance is free but seats may limited not suitable for young children. The Year of the Priest Our Holy Father Pope Benedict XVI has inaugurated "a year for priests" from the 19th of June 1, 2009 and will conclude on the solemnly of the sacred Heart 2010. This year is intended to deepen the commitment of priests to interior renewal for the sake of a stronger witness to the Gospel in today's world. The pope and I think of all those priests who quietly present Christs words and actions each day to the faithful and to the world, striking to be one with the Lord in their thoughts and their labour. Their timeless and hidden service, their universal charity, whom he has called by name, chosen and sent.

Graveyard Mass This coming Friday evening at Moyglass at 7.30. It is hoped for a big turn out of relations and friends who have relations buried in the grave yard.

Knitting Group If you are interested in Knitting or want to improve your skills there is a knitting club every Tuesday from 3.00 p.m. to 4.30 p.m in the Killenaule Library. All are Welcome. You do not need to be a member of the Library.

South Tipperary VEC Back to Education Initiative -Fetac Level 3 Computer Literacy Course.
An introduction to computers course will commence in the Slieveardagh Centre, Killenaule 25th September 2009. The course will run for 10 weeks, every Friday Morning from 10.30 a.m. - 12.30 a.m. The course is designed to up skill people who are unemployed. Or if a person was an early schoolleaver or a medical card holder; you are also eligible for this course.
The cost of the FREE, funded by South Tipperary VEC.The run date for the course is 25th September - 27th November 2009 (10 weeks).

Week 5-07-09

Famine Walk 1848 - This years famine walk 1848 walk takes place in Ballingarry on Saturday 25th July at 3 p.m. The walk will be led by local man Anthony Ivers.This commemorates all those who died during the great famine. The distance 1/2 miles. The walk will begin at the national flag monument in the village and proceed to the famine warehouse 1848, an OPW national heritage site.
The walk will take place rain or shine.AlI are welcome.

Graduation Mass The highlight of the week was the graduation mass in Hilltop Playschool. Parents, brothers and sisters and grandparents were gathering from early on Thursday morning for the graduation of 20 pupils from the school. A special graduation mass was celebrated as the graduation pupils wearing hats and gowns entered the school hall watched by endearing parents and grandparent and family members. A beautiful booklet had been put together by the staff of the school with hymns, prayers and music. At the end of the ceremony the hats were thrown into the air as a symbol of their graduation. Refreshments were given to the large crowd present.
The 20 who graduated are wished every success in primary and secondary school years ahead.

St. Mary's Central School ~ In glorious sunshine the school sports associated with the end of the school year were held in the GAA pitch. Over a 100 young people took place and watched by parents, brothers and sisters and grandparents. It was a very enjoyable day with many receiving medals as a reward for their success.

Happy Holidays - All pupils, parents and teachers are wished a well earned rest and happy holidays.

People of Tipperary The Tipp Fm day takes place on Friday 25th September and we need your help. In order to raise as much money as possible for Our Ladies Hospital for sick children, we need local people to get involved and do something that can really make a difference. Why not organise a coffee morning, cake sale, quiz night or something totally different.

Holy Hour Bailey House. - Holy Hour in Bailey Nursing Home on Monday 6th July from 2 o'clock to 3 o'clock directed by Mary Delaney and Kitty O'Connor.

Hospice Charity Game of "25. Will be held in St.Mary's hall on Wednesday night 16th July commencing at 8.30 p.m. Representives of the Hospice Movement will be present on the night.
A very large crowd is expected for this very worth while fund raiser.

Diocesan Lourdes Committee Wish to acknowledge with gratitude of Killenaule/Moyglass parishioners who contributed so generously to the request for donation of cakes, barn bracks and brown bread etc. It was a mighty response and much appreciated by the organization. A candle was lit for their intentions and their names included in diocesan masses said in Lourdes. Received thanks - Kathleen Cormack.

Killenaule G.A.A Jackpot. On Monday 29th June there was no jackpot winner and no match 3 winners either.
A lucky dip was held. Each received 50 euro each.

County Minor Triumph Our county minors completed a hat trick of wins on Wednesday evening last against Cork.J ohn O'Dwyer (Bubbles) son of Anthony and Mary gave an exhibition of hurling rarely seen in Semple Stadium. It was great to be among the many followers of the game to witness the young man's display from Killenaule. The weekend of 10th/11th/12th July promises to be a great weekend in the county with two teams in the final and the celebration of 125 anniversary of the GAA in Hayes hotel.

Flower Show - A massive clearance of all plants used in mallow flower show will be sold off on July 5th/12th at Mallow race course from 10 - 6 p.m. 20 per cent of proceeds will go to the Hope Foundation.
Gardens are open to the public - Free Entry.

 


Golf Classic in aid of Barnardos

P.J. Hayes and Jamie Lawlor would like to thank all who participated in the classic on Friday the 12th of June. Slievenamon was the venue with 62 teams on the time sheet. Some great golf shots were seen throughout the day with the highlight being Eddie Ryan's tee off the 4th hole which landed inches from the cup.
Ardagh House was the venue for the presentation where the golfers were complimenting the two lads on their achievement. Music was by Michael Twomey and there was great atmosphere after a fantastic day out.
A massive thank you to all of the sponsors, players and well wishers especially Annette and Allison Hunt, Barney O Mahoney, Fionnuisce, A.N.N. Filling Station, Mary McCormack, Marina Hall and Brendan Kenny, plus many more, who helped this day be as successful as what it was.
