Town enhancement plan
-South Tipperary County Council has appointed MOS ART LTD. to
prepare an enhancement scheme to facilitate and guide co-ordinated
improvements to the streetscapes of Killenaule.
A draft scheme plan has been prepared, and is on display for the
public perusal in Slieveardagh cultural centre until 21st of October,
2008. The centre is open Monday to Thursday 9.00 AM to 5.00 PM
and on Friday 9.00 AM to 4.00 PM the centre is also open on Thursday
evenings 6.00 PM to 8.00 PM.
A public meeting regarding the draft scheme will be held at St.
Mary's hall, Killenaule on Tuesday, the 21st of October at 9.30
A.M. All are invited to attend.
If you have any suggestions for the plan please contact Claire
Lee -Planning Section County Council on 052-34156 or submit your
suggestion in writing to Mr. Tom O'Dwyer Administrative Officer
Planning Section, South Tipp. County Council. Hall, Emmet street,
Clonmel. Written submissions to be received by 5.00 PM on Friday,
31st of October.
It is hoped many residents from the town will make an effort
to attend the public meeting.



Work has started
-County Council has started work on the road through the Main
Street and residents are very worried about the state of the streets
and when they are going to be repaired or if possible need a complete
new surface.
Sponsored walk -on
the Sunday, 19th of October walk will take place in need of Alzheimer's
Society starting from Laffans Bridge through the bog roadl. At
2.00 PM. Please take part and sponsor a walker.
Remember those who cannot remember.
ICA -October guild
meeting held on Tuesday, the 7th of October in St. Mary's hall
was a very busy meeting. Sympathy to fellow member Wendy Smyth
on recent bereavement of family member.
Minutes of last meeting read by secretary & financial report from
treasurer. Report was given on recent federation meeting held
at Cahir house hotel and discussion took place on the changes
that are to be taken in the National Association ICA and our news
on the new constitution to be voted on.
Note of thanks to members Patsy and Nelly for entering federation
competition.
Competition of the month was a Halloween decoration, winners Mary
Patsy and Lily.
Raffle on the night -winners where Marie Bourke and Maureen Hayes.
Four members to attend afternoon dance on Thursday, the 16th of
October in Cahir house hotel.
Preparations for Halloween party in sports complex have been organized
and members are organizing packing of shoeboxes for Christmas
gifts for orphans.
Night ended with the successful bring and buy sale and special
thanks to caterers on the night Mary Costello and Patsy Burke.
Mission Sunday
-Sunday next 19th of October his Mission Sunday and parishioners
are asked to be generous and enclose a subscription in mission
envelopes at the churches or by handing into the priests in sacristy.
Week 7-10-08
Residents' concerns -
Residents are very worried about the disturbance of the recent
use of those bangers on the streets and green areas in the town.
Halloween has not arrived yet and if this practice is allowed
to continue for the next few weeks someone has to be responsible,
parents and neighbours should advise those teenagers the dangers
that can happen and some have seen them being let off as cars
are passing and animals especially dogs and cats become very distressed.
Alzheimer's - A.R.A.
has organized a sponsored walk on Sunday, 19th of October in aid
of Alzheimer's Association starting at Laffansbridge at 2.00 PM.
Your support in taking part or supporting a sponsor card would
be appreciated.
Gardening club
-talk on interior design will be given by Siobhan MacInnes at
the next meeting of the club to be held in the sports complex
on Tuesday, 14th of October at 8.00 PM. Non members welcome to
come along.
Coffee Morning-
the organisers of coffee morning held at Ardagh house recently
wish to thank all those who helped on the day by baking cakes
and scones and all who supported fundraiser for the South Tipperary
hospice. Amount raised was €800 and much appreciated. Halloween
party - tickets, €20.00 each are available from committee members
Shirley Kennedy, Michael White, Mary Sirr and Lily Barrett. No
door to door collection. Book early as tickets are limited. Good
night guaranteed.
