Rachael Blackmore at St Mary’s Central NS
A Crowd gathered at the front steps of St Mary’s Central National School to welcome Rachael Blackmore and to celebrate her successes of 2021 and 2022.
Following a welcome speech Rachael was presented with Racing Silks in the Killenaule colours and was piped into the School by Piper Tadgh Ryan and escorted by representatives of Killenaule Juvenile GAA.
At the rear of the school the rest of the pupils were waiting to meet her. She got an enthusiastic reception especially when she asked for no homework to be given today.
With the help of some young volunteers from the audience Rachael demonstrated the equipment that Jockeys need to wear and did a Question and Answer session with questions from the Pupils including her favourite race course (Leopardstown), the most famous person she has met and what she wants to do when she retires from racing (Not decided yet).
A poem based on Rachael’s name was recited by pupils and Rachael was presented with a copy of the poem along with flowers and other gifts.
Following a flurry of autograph signings and photographs Rachael headed on to Scoil Ruain where the Pupils there were waiting to give her another enthusiastic reception.
