Bonnie Daly would like to say thank you to all who sponsored her on behalf of South Tipperary Mental Health Association. Your support is greatly appreciated and the amount collected was €602.00; which has been handed over to the association.
Kevin Prendergast takes up new appointment.
Kevin Prendergast who was a member of the staff of St. Mary’s Primary School Killenaule, has taken up a new appointment in Kilkenny. Prior to his departure the staff in St. Mary’s gathered in Mitchell House Thurles to wish him well and every success in the future. Kevin was loved by the young people as he organised games and participated in them himself. His coaching and enthusiasm will be sorely missed at local level in Gaelic Games.
Paired Reading Programme
The Paired Reading Programme at St. Mary’s Central NS, Killenaule is due to commence shortly. If you are interested in participating in this programme, further details can be obtained from Siobhan Duggan on 087-2378410.
Afterschool Programme
Computers – Monday 19th November 3.30pm – 4.30pm (6-8 year olds) – Cost for 5 weeks €20.00. Children will learn all aspects of computing from turning on the computer to working with Microsoft Paint and Word, printing, saving etc by a Qualified Tutor.
Bodhran Lessons – commencing Tuesday 20th November 3.30pm – 4.30pm (6-12 year olds) – Cost for 5 weeks €20.00. Children will learn how to play the Bodhran by a Qualified Music Teacher. Bodhrans supplied. Fully booked.
Computers – Wednesday 21st November 3.30pm – 4.30pm (9-12 year olds) – Cost for 5 weeks €20.00. Children will learn all aspects of computing from turning on the computer to working with Microsoft Paint and Word, printing, saving etc by a Qualified Tutor.
The Afterschools Programme runs for 5 weeks.Then there is a one week break and the programme commences for another 5 weeks. The programme runs throughout the school year. Family Fun Table Quiz
The Moyglass N.S. Parent’s Association are holding a Table Quiz on Saturday 17th November 2012 in Moyglass Community Centre. To raise much needed funds for the school. The doors will open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start. A Family Table will cost €15.00. please come along and join in the fun and help your local school along the way. Your support would be very appreciated.
Appreciating Our Ecclesiastical Heritage
Local man and historical expert Professor Willie Nolan will give a public lecture on the ecclesiastical heritage of Slieveardagh and surrounding areas on Thursday evening next, November 15th at 8 p.m. in the Horse & Jockey Hotel. The lecture will give an account of the rich heritage of the area, including the many abbeys, church ruins, graveyards and other sites of religious significance. Admission is free. Unwanted Musical Instruments
If you have any unwanted musical instruments at home that you will never use and would like to donate them to a worthy cause. The Old School House in the Commons is a community building and the committee would love to have instruments that could be used by people that drop into the School House or also for Trad Sessions. The Slieveardagh Lotto is held on Tuesday Nights, this week the Lotto will take place in Slieveardagh Cultural & Enterprise Centre. This week’s Prize Fund is €15,600.00– Jackpot: €15,400.00. Tickets cost €2.00 and are available in Slieveardagh Centre Killenaule, Shops, Pubs and Post Offices in Killenaule, Ballingarry, Glengoole, The Commons, Gortnahoe, Grange, Ballysloe and Ballynonty. No winner of the Prize Fund or Jackpot last Tuesday. Next draw takes place on Tuesday 13th November 2012.

Mines DVD
A composition DVD of all past workers in the Ballingarry Mines is available to buy in The Old School House – The Commons. The DVD is selling fast and would be a perfect Christmas Present. The DVD is €10.00 with all proceeds going to refurbishment and running costs of the Old School House – The Commons.
