Closure of AIB Bank

Closure of AIB Bank

It was a sad and nostalgic occasion when, after ninety-nine years, banking ceased in Killenaule on Friday 26th October 2012. The announcement and subsequent closure sent shock waves through the Parish of Killenaule/Moyglass and the wider area.
It was ninety-nine years ago that the bank first opened its doors to the people of Killenaule. Below is the advertisement that was used to announce the opening if the bank.
