Competition Time
A monster competition is heading your way.
Firstly we have an art competition where the children from St. Mary’s Central School where they will colourfully decorate some windows of local shops. All the children have to do is find the five gold rings, spread out between three shop windows in the town, Laherts, Vincents and John O’ Dwyer Butchers, fill out entry form (which are available in each of the three shops) and drop into box. The draw will take place in St. Mary’s Central School on Friday 21st December at 11.45 am.
The next part of this monster competition involves TY Students from Scoil Ruain who will make, as part of a team, a symbol of Christmas and enter their names into a draw which will take place in Scoil Ruain on Thursday 20th December at 3.45 pm.
And the final part of this monster competition is when you purchase in any shop and you spend over €10 you are entered into a draw to win a  €100 voucher. All you have to do is sign the back of your receipt and drop it into the box provided in the shop. The draw will take place in the carpark in Pike Street on Friday 21st December at 5 pm.

Christmas Party
Bit and Bridle are holding our annual Christmas party night on Sunday the 23rd of December. On the night music by DJ Kumar. Also there will be food for everyone.  Drinks hamper up for raffle and many more spot prizes to be won. All are welcome, hope to see ye on the night.

The Slieveardagh Centre
Will close on Fri 21st December 2012 at 1 pm for two weeks for Christmas Holidays.  The centre will reopen on Tuesday 8th Jan ‘13.

Toy Mass & Do This In Memory Programme
This Sunday in St. Mary’s Church Killenaule. The children will bring toys to place under the Christmas Tree to be distributed by Santa for Christmas.

 Festival Time in Killenaule
The festivities & celebrations commenced in Killenaule on Saturday Night last; with the turning on of the lights on the Christmas Tree. There was a great turn out of the people of the town and surrounding areas to witness the event and this was a welcome  development. With the Parish Folk Group to lead us in song and music, they created a great atmosphere, when people mingled and chatted and greeted each other in a great atmosphere of celebrations with mulled wine in plenty supply to raise the spirits for the occasion. School Festivities to Come
In our Primary School, preparations are well in hand and rehearsals have been in full swing as the teachers, parents and pupils have been preparing to welcome huge crowds during the coming week that will be present in St. Mary’s Central School to see and meet the talents of our children. These nights during the coming week are not to be missed.

Midnight Mass at Midnight
Which has been such a wonderful feature of our religious celebrations in Killenaule & Moyglass over the years and the only one in the surrounding areas, which draws great crowds and to welcome back Parishioners from near and from abroad, returning from foreign lands; are especially welcome.

New Venture – Art Displays
Shop windows in the town will have a display of Art by the children of the parish.    This is to be greatly welcomed.

Parish Journal Launched
With the Parish Journal launched in Scoil Ruain on Sunday last in the presence of a great crowd, the journal will be eagerly sought for the read, the history and the stories of the Parish and it’s people at home and abroad. Available in all the shops of the town.

Welcome Home
A Special Welcome Home is extended to all out parishioners, who will be returning home from far and near, to be with their families after their First Trip Abroad.  There will be a lot to chat and talk about. Tá Faílte Roíbh go Leír Abhaile.

Special Celebrations
For a number of parishioners there will be special celebrations in the town; as Sons and Daughters take their Marriage Vows during the Festive Season.

Shop at Home
You will all have received the special appeal from the Shops of the Town, to help the Economy of the Town by “buying at home”, to help our Town to grow and prosper for the benefit of all and for the years to come.  What a transformation would occur if ever house and shops in Main St, River St, Pike St and Bailey Street were lit up.

Senior Citizens Party
Got the celebrations of the Community off to a great start, with a great party in the Anner Hotel during the week. Our Senior Citizens are a very special group in our community as they are a highly respected group in our community. Buses and cars brought them to the venue and home again. The Senior Citizens are now celebrating 20 years in existence with its first great outing to Arums an Uachtarain during the presidency of Mary Robinson.

Cake Sale
A Cake Sale organised by the Parents of Scoil Ruain will take place following the 11 am Mass in St. Mary’s Hall adjacent to the Church. An opportunity to purchase and taste the beautiful home made baking by the parent’s association. The cake sale is a great opportunity to support the building of car park facilities for a rapidly expanding school in our parish.  Let us see you all there. Support local endeavours.

Killenaule Library
Will be closed this Monday 17th December for Staff Training Day. The library will be open normal hours on Wednesday 19th December. The Library will be closed on Monday 24th & Wednesday 26th and also Monday 31st December and Wednesday 2nd and Monday 7th of January (2 weeks). The library will reopen on Wednesday 9th January 2013. The Library would like to wish all our  customers a Happy Christmas & a Healthy and Happy New Year.

Lecture in Tipperary Studies, The Source, Cathedral Street, Thurles –

Dualla 5 Mile Fun Run/Walk
Will be held on Saturday 29th December 2012 at 1 pm Sharp starting from the Denis Leamy Centre. Slieveardagh Rural Development
Are holding a Marathon Toy Collection to help bring Christmas to those in need. The Collection is in Aid of Cuan Saor Women’s Refuge Clonmel.  Many families will have to flee their homes this Christmas due to domestic violence, leaving all presents and Santa behind.  The toys will be given to children in these unfortunate circumstances on Christmas Morning. Please drop off any new toys big or small to the Slieveardagh Centre in Killenaule. No donation too small. The centre is open 9 am to 5 pm / closed 1-2 for lunch.  Last drop off date: Wednesday 19th December 2012.

Protection To Our Graveyards
Those are to be congratulated in their efforts to protect our Graveyards.  The sacred place where family, friends & neighbours are buried.  Those who have come together deserve every support in their efforts.  RIP Service is nil, enough to  protect those Sacred Places from vandalism and destruction.

Every Thursday €10.00 return.  Departing Killenaule at 9am approx  Ballingarry at 9.15 approx.  Booking essential – Contact Tom (087) 2188255.  Unfortunately we do not accept the Free Travel Pass.  It is hoped that a similar service will be provided on Fridays in the near future – Watch this space.

Getting Married In The Catholic Church
1. You are required to give 3 months notice to the Priest where the Marriage is celebrated.
2. Fill in a pre-nuptial form with the Priest of your Parish.
3. Produce – Recent Baptismal, Confirmation Certificate and Letters of Freedom.
4. Produce Certificate confirming attendance at a Marriage Preparation Course.

Slieveardagh Lottery
The Slieveardagh Lotto is held on Tuesday Nights, this week the Lotto will take place in Slieveardagh Cultural & Enterprise Centre.  This week’s Prize Fund is €15,850.00– Jackpot: €15,650.00. Tickets cost €2.00 and are available in Slieveardagh Centre Killenaule, Shops, Pubs and Post Offices in Killenaule, Ballingarry, Glengoole, The Commons, Gortnahoe, Grange, Ballysloe and Ballynonty. No winner of the Prize Fund or Jackpot last Tuesday. Next draw takes place on Tuesday 11th December 2012.

The centre opens 5 days per week from 9am – 5pm Monday to Thursday and 9am – 4pm on Friday; closed 1-2pm each day. Internet Café
Broadband Internet Access is now available to the public in the Slieveardagh Centre – all new computers.  Only €2.00 for one hour.

Mines DVD
A composition DVD of all past workers in the Ballingarry Mines is available to buy in The Old School House – The Commons.  The DVD is selling fast and would be a perfect Christmas Present.  The DVD is €10.00 with all proceeds going to refurbishment and running costs of the Old School House – The Commons.
