GENERAL INFORMATION RE: ENTRY CRITERIA FOR BTEI COURSES
BTEI Courses are free to those with:
- Social Welfare Payments and/or Medical Card
- Highest level of education to be: Less than Upper Second Level Education (those who did not complete Leaving Certificate or equivalent) OR Leaving Certificate (or equivalent) completed 15 years ago or more
Applicants for a BTEI course you must be aged 16 or over.
We do not take on fee paying applicants or applicants who do not fulfil our eligibility criteria.
BTEI do not provide payments to participants for doing BTEI courses.
If an applicant is on a Social Welfare payment and has any concerns in relation to their:
- Eligibility to apply for a course under DSP regulations
- ability to maintain their Social Welfare payment while participating on a BTEI course
we would advise that they query this with their local DSP (Social Welfare) office as we cannot advise on individual circumstances.
Also as noted on the attached application form “If you are in receipt of a social welfare payment, you must notify the DSP (Department of Social Protection) before starting on a course/component”.
Hope this is of assistance to you. Should you have any queries re the above/attached please feel free to contact me by phone 052 6176755 extn 23 or email bwhelan@tipperaryetb.ie
