What is Mercy?
Reflection: ‘Be merciful, just as your father is merciful.’ (Lk 6:36)
The word ‘mercy’ speaks of God in relationship with his people, especially the weak, the poor and the sinners. It is the action of God who turns towards those who are suffering, who runs towards those who are in sin, who hears the cry of the poor, who responds to the oppression of his people, who embraces all our poverties including our greatest poverty – death- and raises us up giving us new life.
Action: Hear the cry of someone in need of help this week.
