Please find attached information on BTEI (Back to Education Initiative) QQI level 5 Hand Held Pesticide Application course currently being offered in Clonmel.

 

The Hand Held Pesticide Application is a single QQI Level 5 component aimed at people working with pesticides on golf courses, landscapers, farmers and vegetable growers.  The purpose of this award is to equip the learner with the knowledge, practical skills and competence to apply pesticides using a hand held applicator in accordance with safe practices.

GENERAL INFORMATION RE: ENTRY CRITERIA FOR BTEI COURSES

 

BTEI Courses are free to those with:

 

  • Social Welfare Payments and/or Medical Card
  • Highest level of education to be:  Less than Upper Second Level Education (those who did not complete Leaving Certificate or equivalent) OR Leaving Certificate (or equivalent) completed 15 years ago or more

 

Applicants for a BTEI course you must be aged 16 or over. 

 

BTEI do not provide payments to participants for doing BTEI courses. 

 

If an applicant is on a Social Welfare payment and has any concerns in relation to their:

 

  • Eligibility to apply for a course under DSP regulations
  • ability to maintain their Social Welfare payment while participating on a BTEI course

 

we would advise that they query this with their local DSP (Social Welfare) office as we cannot advise on individual circumstances.
