Training for Transformation
The week-long programme entitled Training for Transformation will be particularly helpful for parishes and dioceses who wish to train personnel who can assist in responding to the needs of the faith community. Parish and diocesan pastoral councils, ministry groups, pastoral workers and catechists will have a particular interest in this programme as its primary focus is on pastoral development (A group from the diocese, parish or pastoral unit who could bring back and apply key learnings). There will be a particular focus on group skills, team development and discerning and responding to needs in the community. The methodology used throughout the week involves learning through group practice and peer feedback.
Training will be delivered by Martin Kennedy and Éamonn Fitzgibbon
Training for Transformation runs from Sunday 17th June (5.30p.m.) to Friday 22nd June (4.00p.m.). The residential cost (full-board) is €600 and non-residential (including lunch) is €350. Parishes and dioceses are encouraged to sponsor attendees. Booking through the website www.irishinstituteforpastoralstudies.com
The Future of the Irish Parish
This Conference provides an opportunity for participants to hear a variety of experiences of parish and community from around the world. They will then be guided through a process whereby they can apply the learning from this experience to their own local reality. Inputs on the experience from around the world will be provided by Cardinal John Dew (Wellington, New Zealand), Margaret Lavin (Toronto, Canada), Bishop Michael Wuestenberg (Aliwal, South Africa) and Fr Matthew Nunes (Liverpool, England). The discernment process will be facilitated by Martin Kennedy and Jessie Rogers.
This two-day Conference will run from Tuesday 28th August at 1.30p.m. to Wednesday 29th August at 4.30p.m. The cost is €100 and includes light lunch on Wednesday.
Note: This is a non-residential event. Accommodation is available in local hotels (Hayes, Anner or Horse and Jockey) and the Pallotine Retreat Centre Thurles.
